The US has noticed an increase in Russian military activity in the area of Alaska and other regions. This was stated by Secretary of state Mike Pompeo in an interview with WMAL-FM radio, TASS reports.
“The situation is such that we see increased Russian activity both in the region of Alaska and in other parts of the world,” the Agency quotes the politician as saying.
He commented thus on the data on the appearance of a Russian submarine in international waters near Alaska. The ship was monitored by the Joint aerospace defense command of North America (NORAD) and the Northern command of the Armed forces (AF) of the United States. A video of the submarine’s participation in the exercise was later published by the Russian defense Ministry.
Pompeo also mentioned an incident in North-Eastern Syria: a clash between Russian and US forces in which four us military personnel were reportedly injured.
